Throughout this site you will find specific details about my counselling practice. I would like to take the opportunity here to briefly introduce myself. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master of Social Work degree. For you, this means that I have a post graduate degree from an accredited academic institution and that my practice is licensed, regulated and insured. This gives me an excellent academic foundation, combined with practical training and years of experience.
It is essential that you have a good "fit" with your therapist. You need to feel safe with, and confident of, the style and approach of your service provider. Not every therapist will match your unique needs or style. If necessary I will gladly recommend another professional from my network of associates. This may include a psychiatrist, a psychologist and other registered clinical counsellors.
In my work with clients I am influenced by my beliefs, education, training and experience. I believe that people have the ability to make change and that change can occur in the form of behaviour, belief, or perception. Many individuals come to therapy when they feel stuck and unable to make changes on their own. As a therapist I can assist clients in their process of change. My education, training and experience provide me with the ability to assess and implement the interventions most appropriate in your unique situation.
I have had a counselling practice since 1990 and been in Nanaimo since 1996. Please note that as of February 2010 I moved to a new location
